You want an XMLTV guide that shows the right programmes on TVA, ICI Télé, Noovo, Télé-Québec and RDS. The catch: most “Canada” files are built around the English-language networks, and the one French-language aggregator does not cover every Quebec channel. We downloaded and decompressed every file on 22 September 2026 to measure what it really contains. OneTV Connect is a player: it provides no channels, no subscription and no playlist. It shows the guide you point it to.
The sources we tested
Every URL below returned HTTP 200 with a gzip file and valid XMLTV. They are programme guides only: none of them contains a video stream.
| Source | URL | Format | Measured range | Ids observed | Present / missing | Tested |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| xmltvfr.fr (“Complet”) | https://xmltvfr.fr/xmltv/xmltv.xml.gz | gzip, 18 MB → 145 MB | D-1 → 30 Sep (≈ 8 days) | CFTM.ca, CBFT.ca, CIVM.ca | TVA, ICI Télé and regional stations, Télé-Québec, RDS, RDS2, RDS Info, LCN, RDI. No Noovo. | 22/09/2026 |
| epgshare01 CA2 | https://epgshare01.online/epgshare01/epg_ripper_CA2.xml.gz | gzip, 6.4 MB → 71 MB | D-1 → D+3 (CBFT: 22 → 26 Sep) | CFTM-DT.ca2, CBFT-DT.ca2, Noovo.ca2 | TVA, ICI Télé, Noovo, Télé-Québec, RDS, LCN, ICI RDI, plus CBC, CTV, Global, TSN | 22/09/2026 |
| open-epg canada | https://www.open-epg.com/files/canada.xml.gz | gzip, 2.5 MB → 17.7 MB | ≈ D-1 → D+2 | TVAMontrealCFTM.ca, NOOVOMontrealCFJP.ca | TVA and regional TVA, ICI Télé, Noovo (Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Gatineau), Télé-Québec, RDS. LCN/RDI not verified. | 22/09/2026 |
| epg.pw CA | https://epg.pw/xmltv/epg_CA.xml.gz | gzip, 2.4 MB → 19.5 MB | D → D+2/D+3 | numeric (name matching only) | CFTM Montréal, CBFT Montréal, Noovo, CIVM, RDS, LCN, ICI RDI | 22/09/2026 |
Two notes. xmltvfr.fr’s France-only files (xmltv_fr.xml.gz,
xmltv_tnt.xml.gz) do not include Quebec: only the “Complet” file does, and it
carries all of France and francophone Africa too, hence its size. As for iptv-org, it no longer
hosts ready-made files: tvpassport.com lists TVA, ICI, Noovo and Télé-Québec, but with no
pre-filled id, and you have to run the grabber yourself. To compare with other countries, see our
EPG sources by country guide.
Which combination to pick
- Full French-language setup: xmltvfr.fr + open-epg canada. xmltvfr gives about 8 days of schedule with French descriptions and the Quebec cable channels (Canal D, Canal Vie, Séries+, Super Écran, Z, Zeste, Évasion, TFO, TV5). open-epg fills the Noovo gap with a file of 17.7 MB decompressed, four times lighter than CA2.
- Light setup: open-epg canada alone. The big five (TVA, ICI Télé, Noovo, Télé-Québec, RDS) are in one 17.7 MB file. The trade-off is a range of roughly two days.
- Bilingual household: epgshare01 CA2. 696 channels, French and English (CBC, CTV, Global, TSN) in the same file, reaching 26 September in our test. It weighs 71 MB decompressed: avoid stacking it on top of xmltvfr on an Apple TV.
For English-language stations and US affiliates, see the USA and English Canada guide.
Call signs and renamed channels
Quebec guides name channels by call sign, not by network. A playlist entry called “TVA HD” has to be mapped to a specific station:
- TVA: CFTM (Montreal), CFCM (Quebec City), CHOT (Gatineau). “TVA” on its own is ambiguous: the network, a station, or TVA Sports.
- ICI Télé (Radio-Canada): CBFT (Montreal), CBVT (Quebec City), CBOFT (Ottawa). xmltvfr also lists CBAFT, CBKFT, CBLFT, CBUFT, CBWFT, CBXFT.
- Noovo: CFJP (Montreal). Télé-Québec: CIVM.
Renames explain most empty guides:
- V became Noovo in 2019. An old playlist may still say “V”.
- Radio-Canada became ICI Radio-Canada Télé or ICI Télé; xmltvfr shows “ICI Radio Canada Télé Grand Montréal” for
CBFT.ca. - RDI became ICI RDI (
ICI.RDI.HD.ca2at epgshare01). - LCN appears as “Le Canal Nouvelles TVA” (
Le.Canal.Nouvelles.TVA.ca2).
Other traps we measured. TVA.(Pacific).ca2 is a feed shifted by 3 hours for the
West: do not map it to TVA Montreal. xmltvfr has two TVA entries (CFTM.ca and
TVAHD.ca) and two for Télé-Québec (CIVM.ca, 417 programmes, and
TeleQuebec.ca, 538): test which one matches your stream. Finally, epgshare01 suffixes
its ids with the file name (.ca2); the old CA1 file no longer exists, so mappings
made with its ids must be redone. The general method is in our article on
tvg-id matching.
Time zone and the six-hour trap
Quebec is on Eastern Time: UTC-4 in daylight time, UTC-5 in standard time. Daylight time ends on 1 November 2026.
xmltvfr.fr, run from France, writes Quebec schedules with a +0200 suffix, which is
Paris time. The value is correct once converted. But software that displayed the written hour
without reading the suffix would show a six-hour gap: a 10 pm newscast would appear at 4 am.
epgshare01 CA2 also mixes suffixes: mostly +0000, but also -0400 and
+0200. So there is nothing to fix in the files; you need a player that reads the
suffix. OneTV Connect reads it and shows the guide in the device’s time zone. Simple check: an
evening show should start at the right minute. If it does not, go through
the guide checklist.
Adding the source in OneTV Connect
- Open Settings → EPG.
- Choose Add XMLTV source and paste the URL, for example
https://xmltvfr.fr/xmltv/xmltv.xml.gz. - Add a second source for Noovo (
https://www.open-epg.com/files/canada.xml.gz). Sources stack: the second fills the gaps of the first. - If a channel still has no guide, long-press it and map it manually to the right call sign.
To install the app, see the IPTV player for Apple TV.
Licence: none of these free sources publishes a licence for its data. Keep them for personal use.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Noovo have no programmes when TVA and ICI Télé do?
If xmltvfr.fr’s “Complet” file is your only source, that is expected: in our 22 September 2026 test it contained neither CFJP nor Noovo. Add open-epg canada (NOOVOMontrealCFJP.ca) or epgshare01 CA2 (Noovo.ca2) as a second source.
Quebec channels show up six hours off. Should I fix the file?
No. xmltvfr.fr writes Quebec times with a +0200 offset, which is Paris time. The absolute time is correct: 02:00 +0200 is 20:00 in Montreal during daylight time. The six-hour gap only appears in software that ignores the +0200 suffix. OneTV Connect reads it.
Which id should I use for TVA: CFTM.ca or TVAHD.ca?
Both exist in xmltvfr.fr with different programme counts in our test (277 for CFTM.ca, 204 for TVAHD.ca). CFTM is the call sign of TVA Montreal. Map whichever one matches what your stream actually carries.
How many days of guide can I expect for Quebec?
About eight days with xmltvfr.fr (through 30 September for a file downloaded on the 22nd). Two to four days with open-epg, epgshare01 or epg.pw.
